PGNI Research Fellowship Program

Pharmacogenomics research fellowship program

A mentor-led program for professionals who want to carry out pharmacogenomics research from question to results, built on PGNI's courses in research methods, ethics, and regulatory science. The research project is built around one of PGNI's research themes, from AI and clinical implementation to regulatory science and health equity. Discounted tuition and scholarships are available for students and for participants from pharmacogenomics-underrepresented and underserved populations, consistent with PGNI's mission.

PGNI Pharmacogenomics Research Fellowship Program

Completing the program earns the PGNI Pharmacogenomics Research Fellowship Certificate.

PGNI Courses

Pharmacogenomics courses and certificates

PGNI offers three pharmacogenomics certificates: Intro to Pharmacogenomics, IRB & Ethics, and Pharmacogenomics Research Methods. Join the interest list for any course; PGNI schedules each cohort and announces dates to everyone on the list. The courses are also the foundation of the fellowship program.

01. PGNI Certificate — Intro to Pharmacogenomics

A foundational course for newcomers with no prior research or IRB background.

02. PGNI Certificate — IRB & Ethics

For researchers preparing for IRB review, and prospective IRB reviewers.

03. PGNI Certificate — Pharmacogenomics Research Methods

A 6-week, project-based program for building pharmacogenomics research experience.

Pharmacogenomics training for organizations

PGNI offers custom pharmacogenomics training for hospitals, pharmacy organizations, universities, laboratories, companies, public health organizations, and compliance teams, scoped to your team.

Clinical teams

Hospitals and medical centers

Workshops for clinicians and nurses on reading a pharmacogenomic report and acting on it in prescribing, and on how decision support is used in the electronic health record.

Pharmacy

Pharmacy organizations

Workshops and speaker sessions for pharmacy associations, chains, and professional societies on pharmacogenomics in pharmacy practice: reading a report, counseling patients, and the pharmacist's role in implementation.

Academia

Universities, research centers, and training programs

A ready-to-teach course block for schools to add to their curriculum, and training for research center teams, covering human genetics, bioinformatics, and translating genotype into phenotype.

Laboratories

Clinical and reference laboratories

Training for laboratory personnel on pharmacogenomic reporting, and on how guideline-based decision support is built into the electronic health record.

Technology

AI and data companies

Training for the AI, software, and data analytics teams of companies working with pharmacogenomic data, including engineers, data scientists, and analysts: how genotypes translate into phenotypes, what guidelines and results mean clinically, and the ethics of working with human-subjects data. This is education content only, and PGNI does not endorse products.

Industry

Companies

Training for pharmaceutical, pharmacogenomics, and biomarker teams on the clinical meaning of pharmacogenomic results and on human-subjects research ethics. This is education content only, and PGNI does not endorse products.

Public health

Public health and community organizations

Training for public health, community health, and health-equity teams on what pharmacogenomics is, why it matters for underserved populations, and how to bring it into programs and research.

Compliance

Regulatory, compliance, and legal teams

Training for compliance officers, research administrators, IRB staff, and legal teams on informed consent, data governance, and the regulatory side of pharmacogenomic research.

Safety

Drug-safety and toxicology teams

Training on how pharmacogenomic evidence applies to adverse drug reactions and to individual susceptibility to drug toxicity. This is education content only, and PGNI does not endorse products.
