Pharmacogenomics research fellowship program
The PGNI Pharmacogenomics Research Fellowship Program is a mentor-led program in which fellows carry out a pharmacogenomics research project, built on PGNI's courses in research methods, ethics, and regulatory science. Join the interest list for updates.
Your own pharmacogenomics research project, guided by PGNI mentors.
What the fellowship program includes
Fellows lead a pharmacogenomics research project of their own, with PGNI mentorship, and finish with work they can use.
A mentored research project
Each fellow develops and carries out a pharmacogenomics research project with PGNI mentorship, aiming for a manuscript or a grant application. For projects on underrepresented populations, PGNI mentors fellows toward grant applications. The work and any grant remain the fellow's own.
PGNI courses as the foundation
The available PGNI courses are part of the fellowship and included in its tuition: Intro to Pharmacogenomics, IRB & Ethics, and Pharmacogenomics Research Methods.
Ethics, regulation, and compliance
Research ethics, informed consent, data governance, IRB review, and regulatory science are part of the curriculum, alongside the genetics and the research methods.
Completing the program earns the PGNI Pharmacogenomics Research Fellowship Certificate.
One foundation, then a research project in your area
Every fellow completes the same foundation: PGNI's courses in pharmacogenomics, research ethics, and research methods. The research project is then built around one of PGNI's research themes, so fellows from different fields work on questions that fit their own work. Projects are for research use only.

Fellowship admission requirements
PGNI reviews each application and selects a small cohort.
Eligibility
A doctoral or master's degree (for example PharmD, MD, PhD, JD, or MS), or a bachelor's degree with at least two years of relevant experience. Applicants from fields outside medicine and healthcare complete basic remedial courses first.
Prerequisites
Completion of PGNI's Intro to Pharmacogenomics, IRB & Ethics, and Pharmacogenomics Research Methods courses, or equivalent training or experience.
What to submit
A completed application form, which PGNI sends to you, a statement of purpose, a one-page project idea, two references, and a short interview with PGNI.
Technical requirements
Fellows need a reliable internet connection, a computer with a webcam and microphone, and the ability to attend the live sessions, which PGNI schedules in advance. The weekly time commitment is published when applications open.
International applicants
PGNI welcomes applicants from outside the United States.
Fellowship tuition and application fee
Fellowship tuition includes the available PGNI courses. The fellowship tuition and the application fee are on the Tuition page. Discounted tuition and scholarships are available for students and for participants from pharmacogenomics-underrepresented and underserved populations, consistent with PGNI's mission. Contact PGNI to ask.
The application fee is not refundable. If you are admitted and enroll, it is deducted from tuition. Discounts and scholarships are awarded at PGNI's discretion. Completing the program earns the certificate; PGNI does not guarantee publication, funding, or employment. Tuition refunds and cancellations are covered in the Refund and Cancellation Policy.
